Tony,
<< So I take it you still think fibre channel will take off? Sounds like EMC agrees. >>

It will. The MORON who runs Adaptec should go back to gradeschool. He really has ZERO CLUE what is going on. From what I heard about Adaptec is that their FC adapters stunk the wazoo, and the CEO wanted to further concentrate here, but the stock was tanking, so they bailed on all their FC ideas and canned the CEO and are now streamlined and sticking straight with SCSI. Not bad for the next 6 months maybe. SCSI no doubt should keep doing well, but the MORON at Adaptec has as much VISION as the people on this thread who have complained that we don't need anything faster than 133 MHz CPU's.

Fibre Channel is the next step from SCSI in storage and FC is allowing superior storage networks. SANS are one of the next big paradigms. The CEO of EMC knows what is going on. ALL MAJOR SERVER VENDERS ARE moving to SANs. ALL OF THEM...Sun, Hwp, IBM, Hwp, Compaq, Dell, SGI, etc... check out Ancor's latest press release...says people like CISCO and 3COM have joined the FCA. Does the guy who runs Adaptec HAVE ONE CLUE that CSCO knows what it is doing? ;-)))

That bozo at Adaptec doesn't have to look further than his own competitors stock prices (QLGC and EMLX) to see how he has it ALL wrong on FC. Can you tell he made me cringe when I heard what he said? ;-)
