Yeah, but Gene, how far down will it go?

I looked over the earings report on CPQ's site care of Jim Kelley and I am definitely not enthusiastic, nor encouraged. In fact I can't even talk myself into naked puts...

Going forward, I believe either CPQ stuffed the channels, or, the acquisition of DEC is finally kicking in big time. If I determine it is the latter, then I will sell naked puts

I am prepared to play CPQ either way, as I am totally ambivalent. Regardless, I still think Dell is the far superior play as far as the box makers go

I admire that you are ambivalent on selling or buying puts, and have the patience to wait before making an informed decision.

I was just pointing out that much money has already been made on puts sold last Fall before and during the run up. A lot of those positions are still outstanding. If CPQ only grinds to $60 this year, selling or buying puts is going to be risky business. Selling calls might be a more profitable strategy.

Your reference to Compaq as a box maker is a little off target. Box making is only part of the business.

Good luck on the options.
