Greenspan did not give green light for internet mania. Quite the contrary, he described internet mania as a lottery where there will be mostly failures (whose price will ultimately be zero) but a few big winners (whose prices are worth even more), emphasizing the lottery analogy where people bid up the prices of all, including the losers. However it is clear that CMGI's public holdings are in company's that are among the winners. In this business as in most, big is beautiful.
