No mention of DSL anywhere in that question. No mention of specific cable hookups either. What are you reading? Seems pretty clear to me. Throughput of cable PLANT. That's what I answered. Your answer didn't address the plant capacity at all.

Judging from your questioning of Eric's 4Gbps number, doesn't seem you understand the plant capacity issue in question. His number is roughly correct for his stated conditions of "all internet", maybe 10% high. It's a very simple calculation, but I'd agree it's not a very useful number for the individual. The individual has no say in the policies and partitioning practices of the MSO.
