Hi y'all; I called IBM concerning their Thinkpad 600 series to inquire about the "UltraslimBay" battery advertised with this product. It seems the battery is a lith ion, not poly. Still, the advertising thrust does indicate that "slimness" is a marketable attribute.

It's a good point, John, and something I've perhaps overlooked in my assessments of their technical progress. I'm not anti-oriental or anti any culture, but being labeled as such in a cursory off the cuff statement does irritate me. I find plenty of hypocrites ready to accuse who haven't any idea what they're talking about.
At any rate the pertinent facet of this subject to this board that I was approaching, was a discussion of Japan's potential to develop newer, original battery ideas. But apparently that was too sensitive for some. And, of course, there's always dependable Visnic who enjoys personal attacks to stir up antagonism.
