Well look at it this way. Uniphase's market cap is 3.3 billion U.S.
JDS is 3.1 billion U.S. Now JDS is going to be talked about on CNBC
and introduced big time to the U.S. investment community. Now they
will trade on Nasdaq where hi-tech, hi growth companies are accorded
very high pe's. The merger will allow JDS the type of exposure Nortel
gets in the U.S. They are now the global giant in their field with
a U.S. flavour. Fortune/Forbes mentions will become common place.
It's got to be worth an extra 10-20 bucks per share as opposed to not
doing the merger.
