Patriarch: This piece is a real trashing. It basically argues -- in an almost personal way - that SAP is run by a junta of greedy arrogant grubbers who have hired an army of bozos to hoodwink corporate America. M2

The article isn't fair.

If you think SAP R/3 will improve your business, it doesn't matter how big or small your company. Advanced Energy uses SAP and they're a small company. I think the biggest risk for SAP is the $200/hour programmers. For many companies, it's a lot cheaper to hire 2 $100/hour programmers to develop custom database apps. Many poorly run big companies like to spend huge amounts of shareholder money and an expensive R/3 implementation makes them feel important. It's like those guys on Wall Street with Sun workstations at their desks when a PC could do the job fine.

SAP is shrugging off the PeopleSoft news. I guess the market believes that the bad news is already factored into the price.
