So...this is what I've been able to dig up so far...trying to follow the trail of Near M. Margalit. Nothing directly on New Access Communications (NAC) but he definitely runs in some good company. The 1st link is to the 98 OFC conference, (Optical Fiber Communications) in San Jose, CA. On Tuesday, Near along w/John E. Bowers et al... gave a paper at 12pm. He has also worked fairly extensively w/Dubrovko I. Babic, currently w/Hewelitt-Packard, who gave a presentation at 11 am. stpc3.hhi.de Babic is a former member of John E. Bowers 'Ultrafast Optoelectronics Group' as UCSB. ece.ucsb.edu The next link is to MOST, the center for Multidisciplinary Optical Switching Technology at UCSB of which John E. Bowers is the director. Bowers is also a member of HOTC, the Heterogeneous Optoelectronics Technology Center a multicampus collaborative research program. teminas.ece.ucsb.edu Evelyn L. Hu, also a copublisher of Nears, is a member of HOTC & the director of Nanotech, the nanofabrication facility @UCSB. nanotech.ucsb.edu Nears is both well educated & well connected within professional circles.
