Yes, I think FC will be big. FC, IMO, is the next storage standard, primarily because of the clear trend to recentralization of data that has resulted from the wide spread acknowledgement of the importance of preserving, organizing, and making that data available. We are in the midst of a data explosion. FC is simply one of the enablers. A read through the available literature will give you a flavor of what FC provides in terms of solutions to implementation problems but some of these are summed up as follows: scalability, bandwidth (speed), interoperability (multiple platform and topology support), versatility, and growing acceptance. But a word of caution. Not all FC implementations are equal. And picking an investment based on the expected growth in FC implementation, is no more easy then, say, picking an investment based on the growth of SCSI or the use (or current lack of it) of fossil fuels.
