<<PC biz appears strong>>

True, but it's being fueled primarily by low cost/low margin machines. QNTM has lost money for quite some time on just such drives. Most of their profitability has been in the tape business, not the hard drive side, at least recently.

This area does look promising. The deals that I've read about involved either ReplayTV or Tivo, both of which are making the equivalent of a digital VCR (the shows would be recorded on a Quantum drive, instead of on a tape). Go to either companies site for more info. This technology looks very exciting, and should really take off in the next couple of years, as cable moves to digital and more people migrate either to digital cable or satellite broadcasts (also digital). VHS tape just doesn't cut it any more.
