<<"You wouldn't get the hype working if there weren't something fundamentally potentially sound under it," said Greenspan.>>
I listened to his whole thing on CSPAN yesterday - the partial on CNBC - that is taken somewhat out of context. What he said was that
We can not now know the entire impact of E-Commerce in the next century. He also called it a lottery type of market mentality. he was picking his words with care in hopes of pricking the bubble without popping it. We know the power of the internet. He also said there would be winners & losers. America needs investors willing to take a wild gamble or two.

Sorry,
Good morning to you also. My BP is always low - need some one to rile me up(and two pots of coffee) just to prevent a comma.

Anyone On This Thread Going To Vote For This Turkey?

<< A NEW MEANS OF RAISING ELECTION FUNDS? Vice President Al Gore said Friday at the World Economic Forum in Davos, Switzerland that the International Monetary Fund should sell a "small proportion" of its gold reserves and use the proceeds to provide debt relief to poor nations. Presumably the Vice President, not having enough funerals to attend in recent weeks, has decided to fill up his spare time by speculating in the commodities markets, no doubt in order to provide needed campaign financing for Tipper Gore. >>

Makes me glad I am a Canadian and don't have to vote for any of these guys.

Also, from the same link ......

<< European Central Bank President Wim Duisenberg said Friday at the World Economic Forum regarding the ECB gold reserves: "The reserves serve the purpose they have always served, to underline the strength of the currency, and they are there in case of need. They are reserves to hold and not reserves to spend." >>

<< Homestake Mining, a major U.S. gold producer, announced Friday, January 29 that it is immediately ceasing operation at its Pinson gold mine in Nevada, which had been producing 20,000 ounces of gold per year, due to the low gold price. >>

PS - A write-in campaign would probably be very effective against a presidential candidate. < g >
