What does it mean to "maximize shareholder value"?

To me, it means running the company in such a way that the price of the stock moves up over time.

If Jodie Glore can build trust with the financial community, by giving them meaningful guidance, while also delivering on his promise to restore solid, predictable earnings growth, then the stock price will rise over time.

If he can't deliver on the earnings promise, it doesn't matter what he says during the conference calls.

I don't believe that it's possible for Glore to gain trust until there is some way to correlate a few earnings reports with his public statements. That's going to take more than three months. I would rather see him work on building trust and earnings than to have him get a reputation for being a hypester.
