Hi Alan:

No flaw - pretty valid. Although we can probably all agree that RMBS is oversold, the question is how much oversold. Moves in either direction seem to get exaggerated and the charts on RMBS are looking real ugly - total breakdown. It appears that there is a huge distribution top that has been put in and it is going to take quite a while to overcome the overhead resistance. Any news of Camino delays and this stock is gone and those that are thinking RMBS is cheap in here with any possible negative news are going to find out how cheap RMBS can get. Today will be a key day: annual meeting, futures up in the morning, tech stocks continue to look strong, strong GNP number, etc. If RMBS can't react positively now to the general upside tone of the market, something is seriously wrong and this could be dead money for quite a while. From my point of view, it doesn't really matter
whether you buy RMBS at $60-$70 or buy it down the road at a breakout of $110. If the stock is going to go to $200+ in the future, buying it at a breakout point still makes you a lot of money. I need to feel compelled when I make an investment that I'm going to get some bang for my buck. The timing is important as this juncture and I'm not so sure the timing is right at this time. Although I started to nibble yesterday, I'll unload in a heartbeat if I see a further breakdown or there's news regarding delays. Any fundamental flaw in RMBS would tank this stock big time and the funds won't hold on either. They'll dump their shares in a heartbeat as well - they don't want to hold dead money anymore if this is to be the case. There are better opportunities elsewhere in the immediacy. The funds can always revisit this story at a later date. Just my .02c.

Hi Alan:

One final thought. Are you getting the feeling that the tech stocks are overextended in here? If not, we will see an upside further explosion. If they are overextended, a nice correction will be forthcoming. RMBS, in my opinion, would fall on a tech correction. If RMBS continued to fall or was weak on an upside explosion, then watch out below.

Alan, there is no flaw in your logic. The flaw is in your knowledge of Edelstone.

Report dated Jan 12, 1999:

"We still expect Intel (140, Strong Buy) to introduce its 820 (Code -named Camino) chip set that supports Direct Rambus DRAMs in the second quarter and ramp production in the third quarter. However, the precise timing and magnitude of the ramp will have a meaningful impact on our fourth-quarter fiscal 1999 earnings estimated for Rambus."

Also, Paul Engel on the Intel thread (who has an excellent reputation over there) put water on the fire in regards to a delay in Camino.

Message 7542415

So far, through my research, I am confident about NO DELAY in Camino.

Can anyone else come up with anything concrete?

Can anyone say buying opportunity if they can't?

Doug
