Jim - by all means go for your Masters if you can swing the funds to do so,
it will pay off in the long run. A specialty in Computer Science or Telephony is a great plus but if you like to lay back and do research go into the Photonics part of Physics. The last time I attended college I earned a lot more than just pizza and beer money working here: osu-ours.okstate.edu

You see - this is basically a group of guys that have or are working on their PhDs but in addition we did a lot of consulting work for government contractors such as Rockwell. While these guys are very good at what they're doing they needed a resident engineer to hopefully repair broken equipment on the spot as opposed to having to send it back in to the manufacturer and also to design and build various pieces of equipment such as lock-in amps and photon counters.

I hope you get a 4.0 this semester and if you want to continue your studies please don't rule out OSU as it's one of the best engineering colleges in the nation.
