"Disney's ABC to Lobby Congress on Satellite Access, Paper Says" Article documented below my dribble. IMO the biggest down fall to the satellite systems is the lack of regional broadcasting. I unfortunately can't get cable on my mountain, and have had the dish network product for some time. I cannot receive coverage on my local sports teams, and it has been a real pain in the butt. If Disney and company are successful in their lobbying efforts, I think that ACTV will need to jump in the game early. It seems to me that we are not far away form being able to broadcast via the smaller dish companies. We already have the ability to distribute the Texas games to the All Star Café in NY via the TCI satellite systems. Does the SkyConnect play into this world or only to our Interactive Advertising Campaign. Just a thought!!! Disney's ABC to Lobby Congress on Satellite Access, Paper Says New York, Jan. 29 (Bloomberg) -- Walt Disney Co.'s ABC television network is sending 40 general managers from its owned- and-operated and affiliated stations to lobby members of Congress to allow satellite TV companies to offer local signals, Broadcasting & Cable online reported. The station managers will be in Washington on Feb. 10. The general managers will talk to House and Senate leadership, members of the Commerce and Judiciary committees and representatives from the managers' home towns, the paper said. Under current law, direct-broadcast satellite companies aren't allowed to air local TV channels, and can only air network- affiliated channels only if the customer can't get local signals using a standard rooftop TV antenna.
