It was awhile ago, and I can't remember the exact words, but it was something to that effect.

When I really started having massive doubts was when I heard they felt that they were actually recovering gold from blanks. The way I heard it, they had sent samples out to be tested, and some of the blanks came back with numbers. I was told that they explained it away saying they felt the process was probably capturing gold from the blanks.

This was all on the naxos thread at the time, but I truly don't want to go searching through the entire archive to find it.

Claude,

That is my recollection as well, they were saying that this type of gold occurred in most of the world's surface area. They did concede they felt Franklin Lake was a particularly rich example.

For the record I never spoke directly to any of the Johnson Lett people regarding the blanks. But I remember very clearly when the word got out that the blanks had shown gold and that someone associated with J/L had responded that the process was able to obtain gold even from blanks. I heard this from several people in almost identical wording. I remember this very clearly because I got a tremendous sinking feeling in my stomach. That was the specific event that convinced me that I had been made a fool of.
