If AMD tries to redesign the K-7 to run on the UMC design rules it will take 9 to 12 months.Remember all 0.18 processes are not equivalent.

Sucess in the x86 world demands optimization of the process and design to squeeze the last MHZ from the product. .With a foundry you cannot optimize the process.

Going to UMC for manufacturing its products will be the kiss of death.
