If I am interpreting you correctly, you are saying that pre-treatment is never required to do a SFA. However some ores do require pre-treatment before they can be recovered. If they have to pre-treat the ore to recover it then I would assume pre-treating the ore before doing a SFA would give more accurate results results. What am I missing here.

You may want to look at this link which talks about Newmont having to pre-treat complex ores in the Carlin Trend before they can recover it. It doesn't specifically say if they pre-treat before doing a SFA so you could still be correct on that point.
