same standards applied to Democrats and Republicans alike. Not that much to ask really.

The problem comes in as to who sets the standards. I saw the reports on Congressman DeLay's perjury in his civil suit. Apparently that's not the standard.

So, you want to explain how, exactly, the current standards applied in Iran-contra? Henry Hyde might be able to help on that one. Obstruction of justice? The coverup never ended with Iran-contra. It never exactly ended with Nixon, either, there were still juicy bits from the tapes coming out a year or two ago.

To repeat, the main thing I see in common between Watergate and the current mess, they both started out with Republican dirty tricks.
