Don't know about Tom's segments.

But in the past, sometimes, when I was lucky enough to get through on the CNBC 800 #, I'd be told by the 'call screener' that the analyst didn't track the particular stock I first asked about and did I have a second choice that might be covered.

They do know ahead of time what stocks will be asked. Tom then has time to look up the ones he isn't familiar with, which is very few.
I was in VA at his office one time when he was in NY doing the show and he called in about some obscure stock he didn't know about.

I agree with you absolutely with your critique. Booo hissss.
