Hi, Everyone, Now that the market is closed for the week, it is interesting to note that the Valence price is essentially unchanged from last Friday despite the Barron's article. (It seems to be up 1/16 Friday over Friday.) I hope that this will provide strong evidence for the proposition that individual posts, whether bullish or bearish, have negligible impact on the price of Valence stock. I do not dispute that these posts may be read by impressionable novices and fund professionals alike, but I do dispute the notion that any post, or series of posts, is likely to have more than a tiny and momentary effect on the overall market price. It is the responsibility of every reader to add what he reads to what he already knows in the ongoing process of learning about the stock and formulating his own investment strategy. I have little sympathy for those so innocent or nervous that they haplessly jump in or out on the basis of a single post, or the claims of a single poster. In fact, I think this happens rather rarely because few investors are so hopelessly innocent, but I think the costs incurred by those few should be considered the tuition they pay to learn about investing. In my opinion, the value of this thread is found in the information and discussion the posters provide. There is no value for me in a thread dedicated solely to cheerleading for -- or against -- the stock. I welcome the information and discussion of bulls and bears alike. The give and take of the alternative views is what helps me in my own ongoing process of learning more about the stock and formulating my investment strategy. Finally, I do not mean this to imply approval of the rudeness that frequently accompanies these discussions. While I try to look beyond that element of the discussions to find the kernels of ideas which may stimulate my own thinking, I still deplore the constant bashing as both needless and distracting. In so far as all this rude bashing is motivated by the notion that posts we don't like hurt our financial interests, I hope that the Barron's experience will demonstrate that the notion is unfounded. Regards, lws
