Re: Technical buy signals. Thanks for the reply,
I'll be studying it this weekend along with the other
info from Market Gems Well Informed Investor link.

I left out the word, 'report' when I said in orig. post,
'...research shows it(report) would be positive...,'
I believe you are saying that we can't expect the stock price
to be positive. However, I guess we can't be sure the report will
be positive either; but I think I'm getting
that your research is indicating that the earnings report
may potentially reveal a greater EPS, and this would then
increase the probablity that stock may move. And this would
be only the fundamental part, Am I closer on that point?

I may be correct to think that timing of possible entry from
the Watch List: they go into a database capable of alerting
me that it reached a point in a chart set up to show me where that
point is. And this alert would be the technical buy signal.

So if your technical research, based on
actual market performance indicates a "positive technical
outlook," then it goes onto your watchlist and the fact that an
earnings report is coming is only the point where the technical
and the fundamental intersect. Is it safe to say that "through
earings" means through the entire range of market interest: before
the report, the report day, and the resulting reaction if any?

I'm still new to all this and your replies to my posts are
extremely encouraging to me and my learning curve. Thanks, John.
