Why should they keep paying through the nose for lower performance Xeon parts? What have changed which makes Alpha's yield better ? So far, there is still no 21264 in sight other than the one on the spec.org. I don't know the situation of 21164. For performance, as a server, 21164 as Elmer said is only about 3% better. If you mean workstation with extensive FP, that may be a market if the price is right. Gary

In fact you'd be getting far and away the best deal with the Xeon systems. Look at: ideasinternational.com Notice the $/tpm(c) results??? All 10 of the top 10 systems are Xeon based systems. If you want to download the results spreadsheet you will find that the top 48 are Xeon based systems and 63 of the top 64. As for performance, the second place system is a 64 processor Xeon based Sequent system coming in about 9% behind a 96 processor Alpha system. So in short, the Xeon offers world class performance at FAR and away the best price. Why do you think they are selling like hotcakes? EP
