Dais...the key phrase in the docs statement is:

"in the men that can take it"

The point that Vlad and others have been trying to make and I believe Astra and Janssen are addressing is the population of men who

"can NOT take it (Viagra)"

That's why we are seeing large numbers of men in the UK 37% and Sweden 34% using Muse and not Viagra.

DaiS: a very objective post. It would appear that the market agrees with you. The part about losing the market in the US would appear to be what most are worried about. IMHO, if LW really thinks he has the luxury of time on his side, he's going to get a very unpleasant surprise. For those of you waiting for 2 1/2, IMHO, we may well see 1 1/2 before the dust settles. From there, who knows.

DaiS,

So you wanted to know some info on the number of physicians in the United States? Here is an interesting link on information from 1996:

ama-assn.org

As you can see from the list, there are a quarter million PCPs in the United States.

If only 30% of them wrote 1 MUSE script per month we would be doing 18,750 prescriptions a week. And this doesn't include internists, urologists, cardiologists, etc.

The United States has over 650,000 lisenced practicing doctors.

Now that Viagra has changed the way ED is treated, it is these 250,000 or so PCPs who are going to determine where MUSE is headed in the United States. So far, I believe that most have written prescriptions for Viagra so technically they now are willing to treat ED.

I guess the question is how many of these PCPs will be interested in prescribing MUSE once a domestic sales force is able to detail the product?
