<<IBM will unveil a 580MHz PowerPC 750 (aka G3)>>

Was chatting with an Apple sales rep yesterday about G4s and he indicated that G3 architecture can keep sprining new suprises for years.

Engineering at Apple sees a lot more G3 potential that has not yet been tapped. This is not to say that G4 architecture will not bring it's own bag of tricks.

I'm only guessing we may be seeing G3s going into the 1 gigahertz range. If you consider that they stretched the Pentium II to 400 mhz with a heat sink that's five times bigger than the 400 mhz G3. Imagine how fast they can push the G3 with better cooling! And with Silicon On Insulator!
