Radisys(RSYS) is a direct competitor of Spectrum through its Sonitech
DSP Division. Their latest earnings statement provides a baramoter for
comparison of Spectrum's 38 Design-In's reported so far this year.
Radisys, a $100M+ in sales company reported 36 in's for the same time
period as Spectrum reported 38. The two companies definitions of an in-win is not identical but similar enough for rough comparison. Radysis has a $200M market cap versus Spectrum's $24M market cap. Sonitech is the division of RSYS that competes with Spectums DSP boards
Sonitech Division of Radisys $5 million in revenue for the last full year 97 that I have seen figures for. ie the dsp part of Radisys business is tiny in comparison to Spectrum

Off the top of my head the traditional DSP board competitors are:
doe 1997
Pentek $15 million
Ixthos Division of DY-4 $12 million
Transtech $10 million (europe)
Sonitech Division of Radisys $5 million
DSP Research $5 million
Innovative Integration $5 million
Sundance $2 - $3 million (europe)
Hunt Engineering $2 - $3 million (europe)
DNA Enterprises (division of Intelect) $1 - $2 million

Total ~$60 million + lots of $1 -$2 million

The size and kind of in/win that Spectrum is working on compared to
Sonitech is like comparing Gordie Howe to a kid playing IA college pucks

Sonitech Division of Radisys accounted for about $5 million of Radisys income last year. The number of ins for Spectrum DSP board business was at last count over 50 for yr. 98. with fortune 100 companies like Kodak,Bell and Howell, Boeing, Siemens, Applied Signal, Hewlett Packard, Motorola, US DOD, US Deot of Navy,
a sampling of the business in take for Spectrum would lead one to conclude that when a major oem wants a dsp solution done in a timely cost effective way they go to the biggest most talented dsp system company Spectrum based on in wins revenue 5 yr cumulative growth. This is the first year Spectrums vertical market strategy The New Spectrum will kick in with major contracts in motor control, radar-sonar, wireless
