Satellite systems, except for some VERY, VERY expensive systems designed for use in areas where there is no land-based telephone service, uses a telephone uplink.

Even with the telephone uplink, satellite Internet service is still significantly more expensive than cable or ADSL, particularly if you use it a lot, as there is a per-byte charge that can get quite steep.
