Peppe,I was waiting for you coming with this message.
<Winners were chosen by non-exhibitor attendees who cast their votes during the show.> Such aword is nothing , since is base on attendees perception(may be CCSO has sent lots of its employes to vote for this product?).Sorry, it was joke. But seriously, attendees have no way to test this switch in real, harsh carier condition.Only real application
and time will tell if this CSCO switch is up to NN's 36170.Even if it is in a few months, as you know, will come on market, ready to ship-currently under intensive carrier testing mighty "36170" with switch fabric of 51.2Mbs-quarantee with all malitiservices application, plus significant signaling and traffic managment enhancements. This new core switch, will slowly push out 36170 closer to adges. Then CSCO will have onother 2 years to chase NN.
Look!! at NN and CSCO receant announcments over last 12 monts, take time for carreful analysis, and you will see who is following who.
When NN makes announcment the product is ready to go to customers(as a smaller company they can not affort to make the hype first). CSCO , on the ohter hand, is showing prototype first, then is trying to deliver product.Try to find out what was happened with CSCO US West contract announced at the begining of last year.At that time CSCO got inerview not a job.As you know on each possition is several candidates !!!

Time will tell the true soon.

Regards
Zbyslaw

I remember when Crosscomm won the Hot product of the year from Data Communications Magazine with the ILAN XL80. That product really kicked ass didn't it???

I'm not knocking the Cisco product at all but the award is essentially meaningless.

Pepe, how come you could call CSCO switch winner, just based on attendee votes !!!.
All NN major produts were winners based on profecional voting, independent research test and carries acceptance!!!
If this will happened over next year or two with CSCO switch,I will personaly congratulate CSCO outstanding catch-up.At that time NN will be two years ahead.
Did you notice that Siemens is goiing to spin-off 17 bil $ of industrial business by the end of 1999 and want to be listed on NSE in 2000, to concentrate on core business.Curreantly, telecom group has 18 bil$ and information unit 10 bil$.NN has lots of marketing muscles, if needed, behind its back.

Zbyslaw

P.S.

Now you got info you needed to place speculative money into NN.
