Hey Jim, can you spell "Moral Relativism" or "Situational Ethics"?

I have been thinking recently about the way most folks are behaving with respect to the pumped-up stock markets. Have most of us been turned into co-conspiritors in a huge 'pyramid' scheme a la the old Ponzi, Airplane, and other similar gambling fads of yesteryear? Each scheme started out small, but quickly grew to the point that anyone who attempted to point out the obvious was labeled "jealous" and told not to rock the boat. In each case, the players became convinced they had discovered the secret to perpetual easy riches. In this case, a whole nation of Joe SUVs and Jill Soccermoms is in on the action and will turn on and excoriate anyone who questions whether this market on steroids can keep climbing and whether they will get to ultimately take the rest of their chips off the table and go home. If the new American dream does fall apart, they won't even get to keep the stuff they have already bought since most of it was bought with easy credit-like some of their stocks. Of course, under the new societal paradigm, they will blame everyone but themselves. Personal responsibility? HAH!
