Come on Emmo, the guy slipped a little, seems you might be a little judgmental. Hey, I think darkgreen might be the racist here. He openly degrades VALENCITES!! I don't see you giving him a bad time??

Emmo, I really do not think that Pallisard's comment was particularly racist, it points to cultural differences that makes different nations excel at different things. I personally believe such differences are rooted in the nations' languages more then any genes or anything like that. Take the Germans, in their language, you never know what they mean until they finish the sentence with or without a "nicht", that rears people that will excel in exacting (rather then particularly innovative) tasks like engineering, and they are indeed know for that. The Japanese and Chinese have a language that requires mastering some 5000 different symbols that will make them excel in tasks such as managing large organizational structures with many details (mass production?). And I can go on with other examples of the influence of particular languages, yet each of these nations have given the world great innovators despite the straight jacket of their languages. Some of the best theoretical physics of this century has come from Germany, Japan and China. Some of which requires not only "innovation" but a "leap of faith".

My post was not racist. I was trying to pursue the question of the potential of the Japanese to develop a battery technology that would diminish or eliminate American competition, and whether the amalgm of cultures in this country could provide a pool of original
thinkers that would outshine the homogeneous character of the corresponding Japanese research pool - and, importantly, what timeframe might be involved

But since you came out swinging so inappropriately, the subject has been dropped, and we must all defer to your emotional baggage. You call me racist, I call you immature and brain-washed.

Actually the First Amendment is license for saying just about anything, except for shouting "Fire!" in a crowded theater. Now if you disagree with it you can start a petition for changing the 1st Amendment. Good luck.
