Ken,

<<<<<<But while a 4-port fabric switch starts at $18,000, the most commonly used switch, a 16-port unit, costs $50,000. >>>> "

Someone needs to get on the phone and "enlighted" them as to the current availability of the very affordable MKII.

Come on ANCR, after seeing this I hope your on the phone first thing Monday morning.

Of course the prices quoted here are retail prices. I haven't bothered to check, but isn't the MKII-16 OEM price about $2000 per port, including optics? Assuming 30-50% gross margin for the resale, the $50K switch price seems about right.

If I am reading the announcement correctly ancor.com the retail price of the MKII-8 is $9000. Even if 3 switches were required to provide the same functionality as the 16 port switch, it seems that the retail customer could save at least half of the quoted price of $50K. This is still a ways away from the stated price desired of $5-10K.

Does anyone know if the port price of the MKII-16 dropped when the MKII-8 came out?

Greg
