Many years ago, when my son was 3, we took him to Yellowstone Nat'l Park. I made the mistake, before we departed of telling him that when we got to Yellowstone, we would see bears. We spent almost 3 weeks at the park and enjoyed many marvelous sites, but day after day the bears stayed away from us. Finally one day, my son shouted as I drove along the route, A BEAR, A BEAR. I stopped. Both my wife and I looked everywhere. We asked where he saw the Bear and he pointed off in a direction. Finally, he admitted that what he saw was an imaginary bear. I retell this story because it reminds me of all of those waiting for FDA approval on any drug bearing the name Ligand on it's label.
