Bell Atlantic Mobile is great in NYC. Sprint is not so great.

Try Sprint PCS. I commute into NYC by train. Coverage is quite good - a few dead spots - and I suspect it is even better on the roads. Coverage in Manhattan is excellent and quality as well. I bought a Sprint PCS Q phone a year ago for $500. They're now $200 and they have very good monthly plans. Hope this will help. PS - if you live in Fairfield County, Ct - especially Greenwich - the in-town coverage is still weak.

John - it sounds like ATT is getting close to capacity on their TDMA network. They will need to upgrade to CDMA soon - just like all of the European telecomm co's using GSM.
