Well, The House Republican Managers are telling the Senate that it can do whatever it wants to do including dumbing down the "beyond a reasonable doubt" standard for alleged criminal perjury and obstruction to "whatever we feel like doing" on any offenses we might chose to find him guilty. While I tend to agree with your assessment of the constitutionality, I am not sure that the Senate really cares what is constitutional or even reasonable for that matter. Perhaps, these people need to be recalled from congress. I would support that type of action.
