Good, Bad and the Ugly!

Linux Up Close: Time To Switch

Commercial Linux releases are ready for your server business.

By Steven J. Vaughan-Nichols

Forget Linux's hype. Forget Microsoft Corp.'s server market share. The bottom line, according to our hands-on analysis, is that commercial Linux releases can do much more with far less than Windows NT Server can.

Yes, Linux has its problems as a desktop operating system. Yes, NT and NetWare have staggering brand recognition. But Linux is a worthy contender--both in features and performance--for your customers' file and Internet server jobs.

I guess, if in your opinion, when the price of APLX goes down it's caused by "the market" that's fine for you. I tend to give APLX investors more credit than that. I believe the price of APLX is determined by its recent performance and prospects for future earnings. If you check the history of this company, you will see that the recent earnings estimate of .12 for Q4, if it materializes, will be the biggest quarter since Q3 '96, when the price was in the 20's. I think the company has turned the corner. But at the moment "the market" is up, so I presume you are looking for another trip downward.
