There are two schools of thought. One,that IT managers will expend their fiscal budgets in the first half of the year in final preparedness for Y2K then, elect not to make any changes in hardware or software until Jan 1st has passed. The other is that, given rapid changes in technology, many, knowing they will deal with Y2K by replacing existing hardware and software, will simply wait till the last minute to get the very latest products.IMHO,I would expect that the two will balance out, especially with Pentium III and Windows 2000 on the horizon. At worst, there could be a dramatic slowdown in the summer (there usually is anyway),at which time you can sell me all your Dell stock, followed by even more frenzied buying in the fall after which you can try to buy your stock back.:-)
