I respect your opinion....just love the management of Intel over the years...Sanders is not my cup of tea.

Scumbria, >>> I have never been able to detect any reliability differences between Intel,
Cyrix, AMD and IDT. They all seem to be quite robust, given the limitation that
they are running Microsoft's operating systems.<<<

Good point that OS's from Microsoft can mask a lot of hardware problems. However, a data point: my local PC assembly shop, not a Compaq, but not a Mom and Pop either, told me this past week for the third time in two years that they would not be comfortable signing a contract with us for on time delivery of PCs with anything but "intel inside". The reasons given were reliability and availability problems with any and all non-Intel microprocessors they'd tried. So, Mom and Pop (not), last I looked, had eight divisions from Boston to Sunnyvale. I wonder how many other folks they've told this story to?

So, you come back with, this doesn't seem to have hampered AMD's sales, what, 5.5 million K6's last quarter. Maybe, but how many to corporations for run of the mill office use, or as OEM boxes to be used as controllers or consoles for bigger products? Practically zilch, and will continue that way, IMO, as long as the story line holds wrt are you ready for the dreaded word

RAS! Not only RAS, but the other availability too, as in AMD can't supply enough but for their top few customers. I know IBM will now help build, but that will cost AMD and arm and a leg, ask Cyrix.
