Interesting PAIR post - Newbridge Networks Maybe?
Pair is in the middle of product/technology transition in addition to the effort of trying to be systems/software vendor than just a hardware vendor of today. There were no suprises coming out of CC. MGMT. has been guiding the investment and analyst communities all along. All the pros knew what was going to be said beforehand. I think PAIR mgmt has been very honest with us.
Sounded like they are on verge of contract announcement. With that EPS estimates should be headed higher slowly and gradually.Still, no doubt, there is going to be downward pressure on the stock price beginning tommorow lasting maybe a few days..necessary to flush out the weak hands.
Investor-type will movw in. After this shakeout, I expect suddent rise in price to the new level. Because business-wise PAIR has hit the bottom and is on a course to become a stronger player. Reminds me of EMC situation of 3 years ago. They also converted from being just a hardware type to a system/software type!!!
PAIR has clearly broadened its product portfolio. New CEO with data networking segment brought in to diversify mgmt's reach into CSCO-dominated data segment.
Pretty smart move.
I still believe prospects 2-3 years out are tremendous. By one estimate, globally, $1B of new money is spent each week to upgrade telecommunications infrastructure to keep up with the internet boom. I know PAIR is executing the right strategy to benefit from this boom. It needs time. It is trying to win customers. It needs to execute its acquisition strategy as well.
Lower stock price doesn't help. Merging with NN might.

Guess who Compaq uses to power their website? OMKT!
dailynews.yahoo.com

Not mentioned in the article...

MSFT understands that billions will flow through this software and if they understand it , then you can bet that IBM, AOL and many others do as well. If this stock is a takeout- than you can be sure that a huge premium will be paid for OMKT- contol this software and you will contol B2B and B2C commerce. Take out price- at least $25 a share!!!!! Remember OMKT's message-"WE ARE INTERNET COMMERCE"!!!
Gary Eichorn understands this- remember his interview on CNBC. He was right on the money when he said that the big boys would want to partner with OMKT. I would take it one step further and say that they would want to control the future. People like Gates, Gerstner, Case, Grove didn't get to be where they are if they could't look at the future and design or buy the technology to control it. This software is the future and who ever is lucky enough to buy it WILL control the future of E commerce.
