What you fail to mention is his gutting of discovery procedures in sexual-harassment litigation. True that the power disparity, bad judgment and inappropriate sex acts in the Oval Office are to be condemned, but his lasting legacy will be the weakening of perjury, obstruction and sexual-harassment laws.

Neocon,

Although I think it's naive and misleading to overdo the "exploited young intern" characterization (you may recall Monica Lewinski recounting her sexual exploits to her 'friend' Linda Tripp), I agree with what you said in that post about Clinton's behavior and agree with your conclusion. However, I am disappointed that you, Neocon, a connoisseur of irony, do not seem to understand that it is only the recklessness and excess of those pursuing the legal and extra-legal campaign against him that has kept Clinton in office and given him the support to stay there. Do you really believe that there are Americans labelled "Democrats" and "liberals" who approve of that behavior or would tolerate it in any other context? I think you miss the point when you say that the primary issues are perjury and obstruction- they're not -if they were, he'd be gone. No, the primary issues are abuse of judicial and quasi-judicial authority and prosecutorial excess and misconduct; means employed in the poisonous campaign of hatred against the Clinton administration that the majority of Americans condemn and reject.

My point was that it is not ONLY about sex as Dems wish us all to believe. There are important principles at stake, even if some of those leading the way are not perfect messengers themselves. JLA
