Good points, Bill. Between the two extremese of daytrading fast moving stocks, and longer-term position trading, there are all kinds of other situations. I primarily swing trade. Technically, I guess, I don't need the L2/SOES/ECN thing, but having access to the L2 info, good TA charting, etc gives me a better feeling I can see what is going on (although, to be honest, it also gives me the desire to meddle in something that should be left alone). I'm in the process of moving my IRA to Fidelity (mostly mutual funds and a bunch of buy&hold positions), but I might consider moving my short-term account to them as well, if you think the fox+ system is worth it?

Bill,

My experience with Fidelity is very similar to yours. Was about to give up with their Web trading, but started trading with Fox+ 6 weeks ago. Timely reporting (often <10 seconds), good to excellent fills. Rarely down. I often trade short term (10-60 minutes) but don't scalp.

I have not been pushing for direct access brokerage because I feel I'm already overloaded with information, just finding and executing trades.
