What will probably occur is a massive consolidation, wherein AOL and others who hold dominant positions buy out the competition. That will occur only after the bubble bursts, and it's sell out to AOL or go bankrupt.

The satcom industry is on the cusp this year, and everything will happen quickly when the momentum begins to build. It is easy to forget this is a business with revenue potential in excess of $30 billion annually, when delays or mishaps occur.

Regarding G* testing, Bernie S. said in the conference call that the architectural design of G* allowed functional testing to occur with less than a full constellation, whereas I* needed all 66 birds operational to do the same. Thus, G* can presumably test the gateways, but Schwartz did say they needed more birds to test satellite handoffs. Perhaps I state this incorrectly, but that's what he said, I believe...
