I've found the NASD to be helpful on stuff like that. Go to their site, nasd.com and email somebody. If you want, try calling them.

Try also stockdetective.com

Old symbols, new companies reformed into whatever is hot, try Bloomberg. Maybe even their website. Or call a broker that has one. Here's the keystroke: Input old symbol eg LMAC followed by the EQUITY key then REQ for "related equities" Shows name changes and dates. Then you got to the press release to see what the slaughtered pig has morphed into today. I am sure there are websites as well. Hope this helps, AG.
