Chippies may be small timers, but it is astounding how often one little chippie with a 200 share order can stop a run or start one.

Rick, I agree. Even with my internet trading and DBC Stockedge Online for L2, when a descending stock seems to have stalled, I actually prefer to split the bid/ask or buy at ask for the very reason you mentioned: it often starts the tide turning in the opposite direction. If I'm wrong, the extra 1/16 is the least of my troubles! More often, though, my buy adds strength to the turnaround.
