Dave M, I agree there are huge barriers to entry in trying to compete against Ford. On the other hand, I am not so sure I agree that there are few barriers to entry in Yahoo's business.

The infrastructure Yahoo has already built up, including its international divisions are in my opinion substantial barriers to entry for any new start up. Plus with the Francise value that appears to be there, it seems like it is already too late for any new entrants.

The more and more I think about it, the more I realize that the economics of Yahoo's business are excellent, among the very best in the world. As long as Yahoo continues to develop the community strategy I think they will continue their dominance.

Try not to think of Yahoo as a technology company, think of it as 'the worlds newspaper'. And owning a newspaper business is like receiving a royalty on every business in the world that wants to advertise.

Dave its all about vision. Its all about foresight, its all about the concepts.

If money could buy everything, the the world would not have opportunities for people like Bill Gates. We live in a country where individuality is rewarded, where business acumen, vision and drive is rewarded more than following the traditional footsteps........

Why didn't MSFT come up with a portal BEFORE Yhoo did ? They had the money ! Why didn't the B&N giant think of creating an AMZN ? They lacked the vision ! By the time they did - YHOO and AMZNs of the world had got away with it. Now by the time they UNDERSTAND and STRATEGISE, these visionaries will be on a different plane. If they stop innovating, they will be crushed....

Money can buy vision, but by the time they do, the visionaries envision something totally new....and money always keeps chasing the vision................!

Hey, you're turning me back into a discussion type of person......not good. I had hoped I would get out of the way - let you bears congratulate yourself and thump each others back when price crashes....even changed my profile to fit your perception of a YHOO bull ! ;-)
