ya, Jubak said Informix (IFMX) was going to be a loser because its products could not compete against competitors who were implementing easier and more cost effective data storage designs and so on... Well I kept my IFMX and I'm up 100% on the stock. Earnings, products, and new customers have been driving this stock upwards at a comfortable pace. I listened to a lot of stock columnist and it has got me nowhere. My investing is done on Marco economic principles and it appears that if I keep using this philosophy I will continue to be successful. Examples: E-Trade- electronic trading was the future and is now the standard its easy, faster, and cheaper NSOL- the internet is composed of domain names, everyone is registering them ORCL & IFMX - the need to store and analyze data will only grow EMC - builds huge hard drives to store mass data, when you see the storage space diminishing just think how quickly this occurs for companies... RAID technology is also a big demand. AOL - people need to connect to the net! CKFR - just as E-trade was easy, faster, adding simplicity to your life, so is CKFR , but their potential customer base is so much larger I know these are simple thoughts, but sometimes you will defeat yourself by thinking that there are so many complex issues that need to be examined. If you don't believe me, then I suggest you read some of the stock picking studies that were conducted and I'm sure most of you remember reading about this. When children were given the opportunity to buy stocks in a simulated portfolio they outperformed professional stock pickers many times. When you read some of the excerpt for the reasons they chose each company it's was really funny, but it made sense. When Jubak said that CKFR's customer base was sluggish I had to wonder if he was one of the people that said E-Trades customer base would be eroded due to competition and therefore earnings would never grow large enough to support the company's cost and generate a profit. People are always writing something one month but they never write an article about the subject again after 6 months have past and they were completely wrong about everything. My prediction is that one-day everyone will pay their bills electronically. There will be a day when banks and businesses will charge extra fees for using a check. Do you remember when very few people had credit cards, oh such small customer base, it was a privilege to have one, now the give them away... Remember everyone saying "internet, haven't used it, but I'm planning on it..." Now everyone is on the net. Its all over the media like its been here all our life. I have been using the net before there was even a web browser... I can remember when there were maybe only 100,000 websites and they were just scraps of text and pictures. I guess I just have a beef with everyone always be skeptics and ignorant. "Sell stuff on the internet?" "why would my company want to do that?" Now they just beg to get on the boat and then later they act like they have always been the most net savvy person on earth. Electronic checking, " whats that, hows it work?" "Oh I don't see why I need it..." Well these people better start practicing because they day will come. have a great weekend, Bryan
