You wrote:
It was perfectly legal and moral under the laws of the
judges and god for a man to have wives (plural) and concubines (quasi-wives) and
to have sex with female slaves if so desired

It was never made so by God. He gave laws and judgments to the contrary.
Once the law was established in Exodus it was set in cement.!
No getting around it.

You are also incorrect concerning your very narrow definition of adultery. And it is, only in part, what I was alluding to.

Adultery, which is what you are alluding to, was only defined as having sexual
relations with another man's wife, concubine or slave (property).

In who's Bible? Yours?
Even Mr. Webster got that one right.

The command by God not to covet thy neighbor's wife speaks directly to what you have wrongly said adultery does.
Adultery being the 7th
And
prohibition against taking anything that is your neighbors... including but not limited to; thy neighbor's wife, house, maidservant, manservant, OR anything that is thy neighbors.. is the 10th commandment.

So to say as you did:
The god of the
Hebrews did not promote or insist on monogamous relationships
.
Is a falsehood to the umpth degree.
As stated by God!
Deut. 17:17
Neither shall he multiply wives to himself, that his heart turn not away;....
The king was to set the example.

There is much more and also this:

They say to him,(The apostles to Jesus).. Why then did Moses command to give a letter of divorce and to send her away?  He says to them, Moses, in view of your hardheartedness, allowed you to put away your wives; but from the beginning it was not so.  But I say unto you, that whosoever shall put away his wife, not for fornication, and shall marry another, commits adultery; and he who marries one put away commits adultery.

There is also more written specifically on what Mark originally brought up, and then Del. And neither can find the verse because it defends God and His perfect ways!!!.
My time has been over spent here. I will now leave you all to your own sport.

And Terrence please don't attempt to teach me the ways of God or His commands. You know not the God of the Bible. Quote as many verses as you will, But don't pretend to know what you are talking about. By your own words you have stopped believing.

2 Pet 2:20-22
20 For if after they have escaped the pollutions of the world through the knowledge of the Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ, they are again entangled therein, and overcome, the latter end is worse with them than the beginning.
21 For it had been better for them not to have known the way of righteousness, than, after they have known it, to turn from the holy commandment delivered unto them.
22 But it is happened unto them according to the true proverb, The dog is turned to his own vomit again; and the sow that was washed to her wallowing in the mire.
(KJV)

As for me and my house we will serve the LORD.!
