I'm not sure how to respond to the 2nd,3rd tier issue. The competitive factors are difficult to compare due to secrecy in the industry. Valence's weak point is financial but this may drive the company to excel in what it does best, technology. Other manufacturers may have greater or lesser financial strength but from what little I can glean from public sources(patents,PR), they have decided to go to production early with technology similar to that used in li ion products. This expediency has produced headlines but cannot be a long term solution. Zeev has made the point that the "revolution" has to stop sometime. Now is the time for Valence to ante up with advanced products and POs.
