***OT Web...perception is what counts Asians don't want to be called Orientals, I am not too happy when I hear someone refer to Jewfood, Chinese people don't want to hear your going to the Chinks for dinner, Italians don't want to hear anybody say that they are going to eat Guinea or Wop food and I can't blame any of these people. The WSJ went a step further, and I quote

"Expressions ranging from 'a nip in the air' to 'a
chink in the armor' will be removed because they
might be uttered in the wrong context," Richard
Dooling wrote on the Journal's editorial page. "What
about 'whopper' or 'spick-and-span' or 'a finger in
the dike'?"

Web, do you want to be known as the guy who put his finger in the dike?

Public people in particular should be educated enough to choose the right words.
