I'm not sure what you mean here. What do you make of the MSFT shift to its net focus? That certainly represented a radical gear shifting. Or do you mean these companies lose the ability to exploit the creative products of their R&D. IBM? Or do you mean that a vast corporation is simply too big for any single thing to influence. M2

…Forbes article was a little one-sided. Also, it is about 6 mos late.

The RUMOR is:

The article was scheduled to be released last Sept after the author did 6 months of research. Then, competitor businessweek published an article warning of hard times thus trumping the Forbes article. The upset author, beaten to the punch, obviously yanked the article and rewrote what he could and viola! That is where we are today. (Rumor also has it that the original article was not nearly as negative)

I beleive there is a private company called broadcourt or broadcom that is working on web ideas for industry.
