Stephen, >>>Paul...why is Rambus in the doghouse?...isn't Intel closely allied with it?<<<

Intercepting here (it is super bowl weekend). Rambus stated, along with their earnings on January 14, that their earnings would be essentially flat, well, from their report:

First quarter diluted earnings per share were $0.08 compared to $0.06 in the same period
last year and $0.07 in the previous quarter. The Company cautioned investors to expect
earnings in the next two or three quarters to be no better than flat compared to first quarter
results.
It attributed this caution to an expected seasonal decline in royalties from shipments
of Rambus ICs for use in Nintendo 64 video games as well as the discontinuation of develo
pment on Rambus-based controllers for PC multimedia applications by Cirrus Logic and
Chromatic Research. In addition, the Company said that it would incur additional expenses
over the next few quarters to help enable the anticipated ramp of Rambus ICs into the PC
main memory market later this year.

The street didn't like the flat part.

Tony

Maybe too closely.

Any delays - or rumors of delays - in Intel's Camino Chip Set Introduction - will cause RAMBUS speculators to bail.

Stephen,

<why is Rambus in the doghouse?>

I wouldn't characterize a stock with a P/E greater than 200, trading at 40X book value and 40X sales as being in the doghouse. Sounds more like an internet stock than a stock in the doghouse <g>.

I think RMBS has a lot of potential as a company but I also think it is more than fairly valued. I would be a buyer in the 50's.
